Description: Denver based Film Festival of Latino World Cinema, featuring 12 Films from the U.S., Chile, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba and Peru. Tickets are $8 or $6 for students, a festival pass is $35. Opening night with a reception and music performance is Thursday, April 19, 2012 and the festival runs till Sunday, April 22, 2012.

Program includes opening night film “Tocar Y Luchar” (“To Fight and To Play”) from director Alberto Alvero of Venezuela. From Su Teatro:

“If all you  know about Venezuela is Hugo Chavez, you  need to see this film about the Venezuela Youth Orchestra System (El Sistema). Includes special performance by Denver’s own Sistema Youth Orchestra from Garden Place Elementary School.”

Also Thursday night is the comedy “Saving Private Perez,” from Mexico’s Beto Gomez. Friday night’s films include the work-in-progress “Water and Power,” Richard Montoya’s modern noir set in Los Angeles and Patricio Guzman’s “Martinez.” See all of Saturday and Sunday’s program, as well as show times and events surrounding the films at the Su Teatro website.
