The Reel Social Club knows how to throw a party. For their one-year anniversary last year, they threw a huge bash at Lakeside Amusement Park, and at the end of the August, they’re doing it again (read last year’s recap here). From the website:
Wild rides, no lines, good times…Reel Social Club back for the 2nd Annual Summer Scream at Lakeside! It’s the only private, cultural event to have full control of Denver’s historic Lakeside Amusement Park (first liquor license ever issued included!). Close out summer throwback Denver-style at this annual celebration of art, film, fashion, and music – all in support of the Denver Film Society.
This year they plan on kicking it up a notch and including an open bar and live performances by indie rock bands and performance artists. Preferred guests and members of the Reel Social Club will have special VIP areas cordoned off for them to help make them feel superior while they watch everyone enjoy unlimited rides and DJ sets scattered throughout the park. I went last year, and it was an absolute blast. If you like free beer, carnival rides, and fun, you’d be doing yourself a huge disservice by not going.
Early bird tickets are $20, but you have to act fast, because as of June 1, the price shoots up to $25. If you decide to purchase at the door, the price will be $30. Conversely, you can join the Reel Social Club for $60 and get in for free while enjoying the year round perks being a member offers (such as trips to film festivals, free screenings, and a metric shit ton of parties).
More information can be found on the event’s Facebook page, or on the Denver Film Society website.
